Don't eat the low-hanging fruit!
1) I have some gripes about industry voting on BlogShares.
2) I'm sharing my solution. (Surprise, surprise... It's a CGI.)
Interminable screed follows.

(to wound the autumnal city)
Every few years I revisit Bellona. It's one of those rare instances where my spotty memory is a gift; I recall the shape and something of the flow of the story, and many scattered details - not unlike Kid's recollection of his own past - but some parts are always essentially new.
Spoilers follow, if Dhalgren can be spoiled, so please read no further if you haven't read the book. Just take my word for it, the book is worth reading - maybe. Depending on who you are and what you want out of a novel. I, for one, like a story that poses more questions than it answers.

Pirate Day recap
Although I didn't spend as much of it online as I'd expected, Talk Like A Pirate Day was a lot of fun. Local radio stations apparently picked up on it and capitalized in their morning chatter shows, so I didn't have to explain nearly as often as I'd thought I would.

ARRR! Pirate Day ahoy!
Since I can't give ye a tot of rum, I'm handin' out arrrtefacts on blogshares. D'ye need an artefact in Farrrsi or ARRR-ess-ess? How about a Max HavelAARRR (Dutch)?

Free stuff to the rescue!
Seeing as I have no eye for design whatsoever, it's insanely great that BlueRobot.com has this nice, clean layout - as well as several others - for the taking. Or had, anyway. In the hour or two since I visited and left to tinker with GreyMatter, something has happened there... I go to verify the link http://www.bluerobot.com/web/layouts/ and suddenly get nothing but an IIS 401. Bummer.
Anyway, aside from the wrinkles due to me imperfectly hacking up the GM templates, it's a great starting point. Thanks, Blue Robot, wherever you are.

Bonus!
It honestly hadn't occured to me, but putting this blog up and listing it also provides a concrete link between the CGIs at this site and me as a BlogShares player.
Which will help me assure you that I'm trustworthy when I start putting up apps that ask for your password. Which should be soon.

Hot on the heels of my last post, I found the problem that had put me off working on this (trivial in retrospect, as most bugs are) and in short order
had something ready to show the public.
I was soon rewarded with quite a few good trades. It's nice to be appreciated!
I'm not satisfied with the present scheme of categorizing the results, nor of how they're sorted (a straight sort based on player 1's holdings) and especially not pleased with how they're formatted. It's a lot of information to pack into one line, but I'm hoping I'll have a brainstorm and come up with a better way to present it. HTML tables would tidy it up nicely, but only for display... They don't copy-and-paste worth a damn, and producing results that transfer well into message board posts, emails, etc. is important.

I'm dyin' over here!

Excessive categorization
I have more categories than total entries; how fitting. I wonder how long it'll stay that way.
I'll cut myself a little slack for now, seeing as I've only been blogging for about three hours.

Oh, by the way...
I'll be adding categories for each new script. Probably. I mean, you know, I can't be held to that but I
intend to. It'll give me someplace to put all the trivia, whining and useless apologia that goes along with the project.
Here's a small bonus for anyone who cares and is bothering to look... (more)

Oh, the humanity.
It's been a short but bitter struggle between the conflicting motives of a) spending a little time to de-uglify the hideous plainness of the default greymatter look, and b) charging ahead to submit to blogshares so as to finally have a listed blog of my own. Funny, that: it didn't mean a thing to me, having a blog listed, until suddenly it did. Suddenly it was a mad scramble to slap greymatter on the site. Given the rate at which I do things, the design will probably take place in another sudden burst in maybe... Three months? Who knows, maybe I'll even write a little here in the meanwhile.
Well, let's get this sad little thing listed and claimed already.

FRIST P0ST!!1!!1!
Go easy on me, I'm new to the whole blogging thing. As a matter of fact, I'd have laid good money that you'd never see
me give it a go.
Feh. It's not like anybody's ever gonna read this anyway.
